The SDC participates in the annual summit of depository centers in the Africa and Middle East (AMEDA) and depository centers in Europe and Asia (AECSD) 2024 and wins membership in the Board of Directors of the (AMEDA)

In the presence of representatives of the depository centers in Africa and the Middle East (AMEDA) and the depository centers in Europe and Asia (AECSD), the SDC participated in the annual summit of the CSD in Istanbul - Turkey during the period 02-04/10/2024, which aims to achieve cooperation between members of the two federations to encourage the exchange of experiences and best practices in the capital markets.

The CEO of the SDC, Mrs. Sarah Tarawneh, participated as one of the key speakers at the summit in the Executive Panel: Bridging Capital Markets and Re-designing the Role of CSDs in Digital Era.

This participation is considered an enhancement of the role of the SDC in keeping pace with the most prominent developments in international standards adopted in international markets, which contributes to achieving the highest levels of quality and innovation in financial services, and adopting the latest technologies to serve investors and advance the financial sector.

On the other hand, on the sidelines of the summit, a meeting of the General Assembly of the AMEDA was held. During the meeting, the topics on the agenda were discussed and reviewed, and Mrs. Sarah, in her capacity as Chairman of the Legal Committee, presented a report on the developments in amending the Federation’s statute.

During the meeting, the decision was taken to elect members of the Federation’s Board of Directors. The SDC won a membership seat alongside the CSD of Egypt, South Africa, Mauritius, Turkey, Bahrain, and Nigeria.

It is worth mentioning that AMEDA is a non-profit organization aims mainly to be the forum for the exchange of information and experience between its members, the central depositories in various parts of Africa and the Middle East, where the SDC is considered as one of the association's founders and represented in the association by a full membership.
