Project for Implementing the financial Settlement for Traded corporate Bonds, Including Interest

Date: 04/01/2026

Based on the Securities Depository Center’s (SDC) efforts to develop its operations in order to keep pace with market trends and developments in securities trading particularly in light of the growing use of corporate bonds, especially those directed for trading through the market, the SDC has developed the settlement cycle for securities prices in all its aspects including the legislative, functional, and procedural frameworks, as well as their technical applications through its electronic systems.

The objective is to include traded corporate bonds within the scope of the financial settlements executed by the SDC, incorporating the interest value due to the selling client. This is achieved through precise procedural and technical controls that ensure the reliability of the process, safeguard the rights of the concerned parties, and comprehensively reduce the risks associated with such transactions.

The Chief Executive Officer of the SDC, Mrs. Sarah Al-Tarawneh, explained that the SDC has adopted a participatory approach with its members, including brokers and custodians, to ensure the achievement of the objectives of the corporate bonds price settlement project inclusive of interest. This has been accomplished by taking their feedback during a workshop which aimed to brief them on the project for implementing the settlement of traded corporate bond, including interest, and to present the operational and technical mechanism through which the related financial settlements will be executed from all procedural and technical aspects. The workshop was held on 26/11/2025.

Al-Tarawneh indicated that the implementation of this project represents a practical translation of the SDC’s vision to enhance the comprehensiveness of its functional role related to the settlement of securities prices, so as to include all issues traded in the market, in line with international standards and best practices applied in this field. She also noted that work on the developed securities price settlement cycle designed for this purpose will commence at the beginning of 2026.
