SDC Conducts Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Testing

Date: 19/03/2008

In order to ensure business continuity, the Securities Depository Center (SDC) has invested both in hardware and software components that provide high availability. The SDC's main site maintains a high level of redundancy for both hardware and network and implements best practice recovery procedures. The SDC’s remote disaster recovery site is updated on real time basis with data elements and is capable of resuming all SDC’s business operations in cases of emergency.

The SDC currently uses Real Application Cluster (RAC) for its Database application; the main database compromises of three-node RAC Cluster and on the remote site two-node RAC Cluster, using IBM, Oracle Technology.

During the last few weeks, the SDC tested its backup and recovery plans, the action plan started on Thursday, February 2, 2008 and ended on February 21, 2008. The implementation tasks included several steps to perform moving from the main production site to the remote site and performing SDC's normal business operations and returning back to the main site, assuring the remote sites' efficiency operating in cases of emergency.
