An Introductory Lecture by the Securities Depository Center for Students of the School of Business at the University of Jordan
The CEO of the Securities Depository Center (SDC), Mrs. Sarah Tarawneh, delivered a specialized lecture on Monday, 20/04/2026, at the University of Jordan. The session was directed at a distinguished group of students from the School of Business, aiming to familiarize them with the technical and practical aspects of the capital market infrastructure, particularly the SDC’s role in clearing, settlement, and registration, in addition to introducing employment opportunities related to this sector.
During the lecture, she reviewed the SDC’s functions in the registration, safekeeping, and depository of securities, management of ownership records, as well as its role in the transfer of securities ownership, clearing and settlement procedures, ownership restrictions, and transfers excluded from trading. She also presented the SDC’s electronic system and its supporting systems, reflecting its position as a key component of the capital market infrastructure.
The session further highlighted the most prominent career opportunities available in this sector, contributing to bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application, and enhancing students’ readiness to enter the labor market.
At the conclusion of the lecture, an open discussion and Q&A session was held, during which students exchanged views and had their inquiries addressed regarding the mechanisms of the securities market and the role of its institutions.
This event comes as part of the SDC’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with academic institutions and promoting financial and investment awareness among university students.
In this regard, the SDC extends its gratitude to the School of Business at the University of Jordan for their cooperation in organizing this event, appreciating the efforts of the academic staff in supporting activities that link academic knowledge with practical application.
