The SDC participates in the Middle East Depository and Custodian Network Forum and Signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Qatar Central Securities Depository (Edaa)
The SDC represented by Ms. Sarah Tarawneh, CEO, participated in the Network Forum 2024 between Depository Centers and Custodians in the Middle East, which was held in the State of Qatar - Doha, during the period 5-6/11/2024, with the attendance of an elite group of the most important leaders of capital markets and various leading financial and banking institutions in the region.
Where pivotal issues were discussed that would enhance investments in the region, most notably (developing settlement cycle of the securities price, the impact of artificial intelligence on developing financial markets, redefining environmental and social governance standards, and cybersecurity rules and regulations).
During the forum, SDC signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Qatar Central Securities Depository (Edaa), in an important step towards enhancing joint cooperation efforts between Arab depository centers.
The terms of the memorandum were based on the exchange of expertise and knowledge between the two parties, within the framework of their belief in the importance of sustainable cooperation to support the financial market and enhance investment in securities, which would benefit the financial markets in both countries.
Mrs. Sara Tarawneh stressed that signing the memorandum of understanding comes within the framework of organizing and coordinating efforts to review expertise, best practices and applications related to the fields of business of depository centers. It also reflects the extent of the SDC’s keenness to strengthen its relations with regional and international depository centers in a way that contributes to enhancing the position of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in international financial markets and encouraging investment in the Jordanian financial market.
