The Securities Depository Center (SDC) of Jordan participates in the conference of Africa & Middle East Depositories Association (AMEDA) held in Doha
The theme of this year’s meeting focuses on the growing use of AI at CSDs as well as Sustainability through New Initiatives while Maintaining Data Security. AMEDA delves into innovative approaches aimed at ensuring the sustainability of Central Securities Depositories (CSDs) while upholding the utmost standards of data security.
AMEDA’s 39th Meeting provides a platform for industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders to engage in meaningful discussions, share insights, and explore strategies to enhance the sustainability of CSDs in the ever-evolving financial landscape.
The Securities Depository Center was represented by Mrs. Sarah Tarawneh, Chief Executive Officer, who in turn participated during the first day’s activities by focusing on the financial resources of the depository centers and the foundations of their sustainability. On the second day, she gave a presentation on the digital transformation and electronic services that depository centers can provide and Jordan’s experience in this field.
Mrs. Tarawneh emphasized the important role of digital transformation in enhancing efficiency and transparency in financial markets, and gave a detailed presentation on the “e-portfolio ” service, which is a new initiative launched by the SDC designed to provide investors with immediate and secure access to their ownership information and follow the transactions executed on their securities.
This participation is considered valuable to enhance of the role of the SDC in AMEDA and is a reinforcement of the importance of effective participation and exchange of experiences among the member states of the AMEDA, which contributes to achieving the highest levels of quality and innovation in financial services, and adopting the latest technologies to serve investors and advance the financial sector.
