The CEO of the SDC, Mr. Khalil Naser, gave a lecture on Sunday 03/02/2019 at the Royal Jordanian National Defense Collage (RJNDC) for students in the 16th National Defense Course, and 15th War Course entitled “The role of the Jordanian capital market institutions in the national economy”. It was attended by the Brigadier, Mr. Yousef Al khateeb, who is the collage commander, the chairman and members of the guidance committee at the college.

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Khalil extended the pride of the capital market institutions in the role played by the armed forces and public security in protecting the homeland and the sovereignty of security, which has a major role in supporting the economy and its development. He also indicated the importance of this meeting which would exchange the legislative and financial knowledge between the country institutions in addition to the role that the Jordanian capital market institutions play in creating an attractive market for local and foreign investment.

Mr. Khalil presented background history about Jordan capital market, and comprehensive view about SDC establishment, goals, and tasks “safekeeping, depositing, transferring of securities and clearing and settlement”. Delivery versus Payment was explained as fundamental international principle embodied in clearing and settlement tasks, hereby delivery of sold securities is against payment of funds.

At the end of the lecture, an extensive discussion was organized in which the CEO of the SDC answered the questions and inquiries of the students.
