SDC participates in the 20th Meeting of the OIC Member States’ Stock Exchanges Forum
The Securities Depository Center (SDC) participated in the 20th Meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Exchanges Forum (OIC Exchanges Forum – OICEF), held virtually on 7–8 October 2026 under the theme “The Role of Capital Markets in Economic Development”. The SDC was represented by Mr. Najd Al-Najdawi, Director of the Registration Department; Mr. Jafar Al-Suwailameen, Director of the Operations Department; and Mr. Alaa Al-Atoum, Operations Officer.
The meeting was held as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation and exchange expertise among capital market institutions in OIC member states. It also provided an opportunity to discuss the key developments and challenges facing these markets and explore opportunities to enhance their role in supporting economic growth and achieving sustainable development.
Over the course of two days, the meeting addressed several key topics, most notably Islamic finance in terms of risk, stability, and growth; the role of Islamic capital markets in achieving sustainable economic development beyond providing liquidity; and the future of settlement operations and the transition to a shorter settlement cycle (T+1). The meeting also featured a roundtable discussion for chief executives entitled “Leadership Roadmap,” which explored future directions for the development of capital markets.
The OIC Exchanges Forum serves as a platform for fostering cooperation and exchanging knowledge and expertise among capital market institutions in member states, contributing to the development of these markets and enhancing their efficiency and integration.
