The Securities Depository Center (SDC) registered the Trademark of its electronic system,

SECURITIES CENTRAL OPERATION REGISTRY PROCESSING & INFORMATION ONLINE (SCORPIO)®

at the Directorate of Industrial Property Protection at the Ministry of Industry & Trade and the Department of the National Library.

The Chief Executive Officer of the SDC, Samir Jaradat, stated that the SDC has consistently sought since its establishment to support its IT base which is one of the fundamental principles in developing its operations. Consequently, the SDC developed the SCORPIO System which was built using local Jordanian expertise, to enable it to perform its functions and responsibilities in accordance with the Securities Law. SCORPIO is a complete system for Registration, Depository and Clearing & Settlement that is compliant with International Standards.

The System provides mechanisms for the risk management and surveillance of clearing and settlement. It consists of several secondary and support systems, such as the Shareholders’ Registry System, the Transfers System (inheritance, family and transfers exempted from trading), Clearing & Settlement System, Brokers’ System, Issuers’ System, Sub-Custodian System and Jordan Securities Commission’s Surveillance and Auditing System.
